Government has decided
to increase fees for Passport Services from Rs.1000/- to Rs.1500/- under
normal category and under Tatkal scheme Passport service charge has
been increased from Rs. 2500/- to Rs. 3500/-.
For Indian Citizen living abroad, the revised fees would be USD 75.00 (from 40.00) and Euro 60 (from 48.00) for normal applications.
The revised fees will be implemented from October 1, 2012.
Sources said that the revision is due to hike in expenses related to establishment, IT expenses,personalization costs, printing of passport booklets, payment to India Posts, reimbursement to police authorities, procurement of equipment, capital expenditure, etc..
