Dear Friends......
As all of you are aware, all arrangements were in place for holding the 42nd
Circle Conference of our Association at Michael Land Resorts, Kannamali, Kochi
on 10th and 11th of May. However, due to the inclement
weather conditions which prevailed in Kochi for the past two days and the
forecast for similar conditions to continue for the next three days prompted us
to postpone the Conference to 24th
and 25th May 2014.
Admittedly it was a tough decision to make as
various arrangements which were set in place for conducting this mega event had
to be rolled back within a short span of time. Our GS and Treasurer had booked
their tickets in Tatkal just 10 mints before informing them about the decision
to defer the programme. Their return tickets also had to be cancelled in the
last minute. Many of our members from Calicut and TVM side also were forced to
make last minute cancellations. Guests and other special invitees and above all our members
had to be informed about the change. However, rest assured that such a decision
was taken keeping in mind the security aspects and the inconvenience which could
have been caused to the members if the rains continued for the week end also. The
Ernakulam railway station was nearly immersed in water and all the low lying areas
of Kochi were also fast flooding. The venue was also located at an island surrounded
by backwaters and the management also expressed concern if the same weather condition
prevailed for the next two or three days. So keeping all this in mind, a decision
was taken to postpone the meeting in the best interest of all.
I sincerely hope that all our members would realize
the efforts being made by us for conducting this conference, especially as a result
of the last minute re-scheduling of the programme. I have tried to inform every one about the change in schedule of the programme over phone and also by sms. However, if anyone happened to be left out, please accept my apologies and consider this as an official intimation about the change. The ultimate success of the programme
is your presence at the venue on both days of the conference. Our GS and Treasurer
has graciously agreed to attend the conference on the revised dates. I do hope that
all members would earnestly participate in the two day conference and make our GB
an event to cherish.....
